Day 14: Monday, May 24th

Today I had my exit interview at 8:45 in the morning in the chapel. I was talking with Heidi, Tom, Ellie my mentor, and Shauna my advisor. The interview was great and I felt very happy to finish the project on a good note. It was nice being able to express my work through words and reflect in person. It feels really good to finally be done. Tommorow at express fest I will present a tri-fold of information and talk about my project and the research I found. Last blog ever, I can't believe it! Senior Project has flown by. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way! Bye :) Hours today: 2 Total: 55

Day 13: Monday, May 23rd

Today I drove back from megs house for five hours. I sent Lindsey the final version of the slideshow as well. I came back to campus and went on a nice run on the rail trial. We did dorm clean up at 3:15 and I tried to tidy up a bit. At 6:30 Heidi asked the people who are doing concentrations to go to the library. I walked and talked with the freshman about their capstone projects. One more day to go! It has been a fun journey. Hours: 1 Total: 52

Day 12: Sunday, May 22nd, Week two recap

Image
This week was very productive and enjoyable as well. To recap this week there was a lot of trial and error with the senior slideshow. At first, it was deleted, but miraculously the tech desk was able to revive it and I felt very lucky. Without them I would have to re-do the whole slide show which took me about 7 hours, between timing the photos and making sure the photos zoomed in correctly. Today I worked more on the senior slideshow because I made the photos 2.4 seconds instead of 2.5 to make the slideshow fit with the music. Each day, I would either work on my slideshow or I spent a lot of time on the reflection paper and final touch ups to my concentration research. I spent a lot of time talking with Lindsey about the project too, mainly in person. This week I learned a lot more about editing and video making in imovie and more of how to make the video look better and more professional just by playing around with it. I really enjoyed what I was working on. The reflection was inter...

Day 11: Friday, May 20th

Today was a good working day! I finished my reflection paper which took about 3 hours. I started that at 8:30 and I finished it at 11:30. I then went to lunch and I then did more work after. I texted with Lindsey today about logistics because we might have to adjust the photo timing. This weekend I am going to touch up on the timing of the photos so that the music will work better. I am excited to finish it finally after a lot of edits and changes. Lindsey has been a big help :) Hours: 4 Total: 50

Day 10: Thursday, May 19th

Today was a great day, despite the rain! I started my reflection paper and I am now more than halfway done. I worked on that from 8:30-11:30. I then had some lunch and started working again at 12:45. Lindsey came into the library for us to talk about the slideshow. There was one mishap where I was trying to delete a song from the imovie and then the whole movie deleted. In a panick, Lindsey suggested that I bring it to tech. Thankfully he pressed a certain button and the whole project came back! That was very stressful but thankfully it has been saved and soon to be sent to Lindsey. Today I worked on that from 12:45-2:30 and shuffled the photos around and made it aesthetically pleasing. Tommorow I will finish my reflection and the movie will be sent to Lindsey :) I am very excited about the progress made today. Hours: 5 hours Total hours: 46

Day 9: Wednesday, May 18th

Today was a very productive day. I of course started my morning with breakfast and went to the library at around 9. My goal today was the finish the slideshow, so I set out to do that. I stayed in the library till 11:30 working on it. I was able to compile all of the photos into an imovie. I had to adjust each photo and trim the time for each photo. The hardest part was making sure that the photo zoomed in on the senior and not the other people in the photo. I don't have itunes so I decided to hold my phone up to the computer and play music for the slideshow through that. That ended up not really working out because the music sounded muffled and not high quality. I talked to Lindsey and we are going to figure that out tommorow. But, finally the hard part is done! And I am very excited. Tonight at 5:30pm I had tutoring and that was really fun tonight. Amhiya was very motivated and excited to learn, as always, and she really improved her skills with improper fractions which was a har...

Image
I started off my day with blue bird and a coffee. I started my work at 8:30 and stopped working at 2:30. That was 6 hours. I then worked from 7:30 to 9:00 and that was an hour an a half. I spent a total of 7.5 hours today between my concentration and senior slideshow. Kristen gave me edits and I made edits to my essay, which was very helpful. I added in solutions and other tips she gave me. At 9:00 tonight I finished the senior slide show/collecting all the photos. I am very happy I finished that because now I need to just focus on the actual making of the video and songs. My concentration paper is pretty much almost ready to go as well. Hours today: 7.5 total: 37.5

Day 7: Monday, May 16th

Today I had a very productive day. I started my work in the library after breakfast at around 8:30. I am almost done with the senior slide show. Kristen Nesbitt gave me comments to my paper. I spent most my day in the library and outside a little bit. Hours: 4.5 Total: 30

Week Recap

Week 1 This week I learned a lot about time management and the importance of taking breaks and splitting up your time. I learned more about socioeconomic disparities and how that can affect a student's education and future. I very much enjoyed what I was learning and completing, whether it was doing the senior slideshow or researching for my paper. I enjoyed meeting with Heidi or Lindsey and discussing the plan. I also liked how I was able to manage my own time. Everything happened as I expected/planned, which I was very happy with. I have always had high hopes for senior project, so I am happy about the outcome so far. I have been very productive and have completed the hours sufficiently. It was definitely weird at first having no scheduled classes and not being in the typical routine, but it was really exciting and a change. From this week's activities I benefited by almost completing the senior slideshow and feeling content with my essay. I benefited from this becaus...

Day 6: Saturday, May 14th

Today was a shorter day of work because I am leaving for my game at 12. I worked on the senior slideshow again.I got about 2 hours done. I started my day by going to breakfast. I did all my work in my dorm today. I am excited to continue my work on monday! Hours: 2 Total: 27.5

Day 5: Friday, May 13th

Image
Today was a day where I focused just on the senior slide show. I made a lot of progress with that. I yet again could not hangout outside too much because of the bugs, but the library was my home base today. I also did some work in my dorm too. I have more than half of the senior class finished for the slideshow. I also spent about an hour of my day at AEMS reading club across the street and assembly. Tommorow I will most likely get very close to finishing the photo collection, and we are leaving for our game at 12. Hours today: 4.5 Total: 25.5

Day 4: Thursday, May 12th

Image
Today I started my work at around 9:30 and I worked till 2:30. I worked five hours today on the senior slide show. It is taking a lot longer than I excpected but it is a lot of fun. I have to collect three photos of each senior. I have to make sure that no one has too many photos or too little. I made a lot of progress today and I am excited to continue tomorrow. It was very hot outside today so I only worked there for a bit before moving between the library and dining hall. I worked again with Cam today which was fun. I sent my concentration paper to Kristen Nesbitt, which I will hopefully will edit for round two tomorrow if she has time for my essay. Below is the list of students names with check marks next to them indicating one or more photos. Hours: 5 Total: around 21

Day 3: Wednesday, May 11th

Zoom tutoring session  Today I started off my morning by going to breakfast and then going to the library at 8:50 AM. I worked on my essay by looking over the edits my mentor, Ellie Moore, gave me. She gave me a lot great edits that I was able to work on for an hour. I then met with Lindsey Allenby for about 30 minutes to discuss my plan for implementing senior content in my senior project. We discussed all that I had to do to prepare the senior slideshow shown at graduation, which I am actually very excited to make. I then did work till 11:30 before heading to lunch. I worked on my paper from 12:00 to 12:45 and then I took a break for the day and went to practice. Tonight, at 5:30 I did tutoring till 6:30, tutoring a girl named Amiya who I work with each week. Today we worked on quadrilaterals and other math problems.  Today: 4.35 hours total: 15.35 hours

Day 2: Tuesday, May 10th

Image
Today I started off my morning with blue bird at around 7:30. I got into the Library around 8:20 and started my work at around 8:30. I started by making a noodle tools project with the help of Heidi. I then completed my annotated bibliography by writing paragraphs about each source on the credibility, content, and connection of the source to my project. After that I worked more on my essay by organizing the paragraphs and finishing the outline to my essay. I worked on that from 8:30-11:00 and then I went to lunch. Cam, Nora, and I kept each other motivated the whole morning since we were all working on our concentrations. At 12 I went back to work till 2:30, just working on my essay and trying to make it as cohesive and informative as possible. I had a very productive day whether I was doing work in the library or dining hall. I found it very helpful to change my scenery while doing work.  Total hours today: 5 Total hours: 11

Day 1: Monday, May 9th

Image
Today I started off the day in the library for a concentration meeting with Heidi and Tom at 9 am. It was a lot of fun and we were able to go over final details of the following two weeks, and when everyone will be completing their projects or doing exit interviews. After that I started my essay by collecting data and quotes from various reliable websites. Today my main focus was finding data and dumping it into a google document, which took longer that I expected because I really wanted data that would all tie together and create a connected yet informative research paper. After the library, I went to go work in my room and I started to put the quotes into paragraphs and shape the essay a bit more. Today was a very productive first day as I completed 5 hours of work between the morning and afternoon. I have a total of 6 hours because I completed my public demo on Saturday with the board of Trustees. Tonight I brainstormed what else I will do after my paper is polished and I decid...
